FAQ
General
What is Diamond & Gem Rendering?
Diamond & Gem Rendering is a specialized service focused on photorealistic visualization of individual gemstones. It emphasizes optical accuracy, internal light behavior, dispersion, and material response rather than full jewelry composition.
Is this service available without a jewelry setting?
Yes. Gemstones can be rendered as standalone objects for marketing, educational content, or R&D purposes, without metal settings.
Do you work with both diamonds and colored gemstones?
Yes. We work with diamonds (all cuts) and colored gemstones including ruby, sapphire, emerald, spinel, pearls, and custom materials.
Files & Input
What files do you accept for gemstone rendering?
Preferred formats are OBJ, FBX, STL. We also accept gem cut data or reference proportions if CAD is not available.
Can you work without CAD files?
Yes. If CAD is unavailable, we can recreate the gemstone based on:
cut type
dimensions
reference images
gemological data (if provided)
Do you require production-accurate geometry?
Yes. Optical realism depends directly on correct facet angles, pavilion depth, table size, and symmetry.
Workflow & Revisions
How does the workflow look for gemstone rendering?
The workflow consists of:
Geometry validation & optical setup
Material & medium configuration (IOR, absorption, dispersion)
Lighting calibration & test renders
Final rendering & delivery
How many revision rounds are included?
Two revision rounds are included, covering:
color balance
brightness & contrast
light behavior
camera framing
Can geometry changes be made after approval?
Geometry changes after approval are treated as a new production step and may affect pricing and timelines.
Rendering & Quality
How accurate are gemstone materials?
We use physically-based rendering with correct IOR, absorption, dispersion, and light transport to match real gemstone behavior under studio lighting.
Do you simulate internal light behavior and dispersion?
Yes. Internal reflections, refraction paths, and dispersion are fully simulated where required.
Can you match existing brand or reference visuals?
Yes. We can match:
brand color tone
contrast level
lighting mood
sparkle intensity
Pricing & Batches
How is gemstone rendering priced?
Pricing is based on:
gemstone type
cut complexity
optical setup complexity
resolution and usage
It is not calculated per second or per frame, but by production complexity.
Why does gemstone rendering cost more than simple renders?
Because gemstone realism requires:
precise geometry
complex light interaction
multiple test iterations
fine-tuned material and medium setup
Is batch pricing available for gemstones?
Batch pricing is possible only for identical setups (same cut, material, lighting). Mixed gemstone types are priced individually.
Delivery & Usage
What formats do you deliver?
Standard deliverables include:
MP4 or MOV animations
High-resolution still images rendered from the same scene
Additional formats can be provided upon request.
How are files delivered?
Files are delivered via secure cloud storage, organized by SKU, angle, and metal color.
Can we use the renders for commercial purposes?
Yes. All final renders can be used for commercial purposes as agreed in the contract.
Confidentiality & NDA
Do you work under NDA?
Yes. NDA-friendly workflow is a standard part of our process.
Can you sign our NDA before receiving files?
Absolutely. We can sign your NDA before receiving any source files.
Do you reuse client models or renders?
No. We never reuse client assets. All projects are treated as strictly confidential.
